A wholesome and heartwarming bodycam video from April is reminding social media users why we should celebrate our police officers.

In the footage, which has now gone viral, a courageous young boy, who identifies himself as five-year-old Nico, called 911 in the middle of the night after spotting what he believed was a terrifying “monster” with “big black teeth” hiding under his brother’s bed.

What followed was one of the most heartwarming police interactions captured on video in recent memory.

The full bodycam footage was originally uploaded to YouTube by The Public Services channel in late April and exploded in popularity after being shared across other platforms.

According to the bodycam timestamp, the incident unfolded in a quiet residential home after midnight on April 19.

Nico, wide awake and terrified, picked up the phone and told the 911 dispatcher, “There’s a monster in my brother’s bed.”

The boy confirmed he had not woken his parents, who were fast asleep upstairs.

Armed with a Nerf gun, goggles, and a face mask for “tactical” protection, the little boy answered the door when the officer arrived.

The responding officer, who seems to be a SWAT team member, immediately took the call seriously, as any potential child-in-distress or possible intruder situation demands.

Bodycam footage shows him entering the home professionally, flashlight in hand, clearing rooms while engaging the boy in a calm, reassuring conversation.

Nico guided the officer to his brother’s bedroom, explaining the threat.

The officer methodically checked under the bed.

What he discovered was a scary dinosaur toy with big teeth that made noise when moved, enough to spook any child in the dark.

Rather than dismissing the boy’s fears, the officer played along in the best possible way.

He “captured” the monster, put him in the back of his vehicle, and even brought the boy a challenge coin.

The officer treated the boy like a hero, but told him that next time he needed to tell his parents.

Throughout the nearly five-minute video, the parents remained asleep.

Some online skeptics questioned whether the video was staged or a training exercise because the parents never woke up, and the officer did not immediately involve them.

However, the bodycam metadata, consistent details across uploads, and the channel’s track record of authentic public safety footage point to its authenticity.

Most of the comments simply celebrated the good policing.

“What a great police officer and DAD this guy must be!” one commenter wrote.

“This kid needed a hero, and one rang the bell,” another wrote.

No law enforcement agency has disputed its legitimacy or claimed that it was their officer as of May 2.

The Gateway Pundit will keep an eye out for any follow-up from the family or the department.
