I’ve never been shy about pointing out when I was one of the only people to see and speak out about something, then events came along to vindicate me. For instance, I was right early on about:
the Iraq War,
the centrality of immigration,
the fraud of the COVID panic,
the Dead Baby Vaccine,
the 2020 election fraud, and
the January 6 fedsurrection.
Heck, back in the 1980s I was telling everyone who’d listen (and very few did) that the gay activist movement was more of a threat to the West than Soviet Communism, even as Red Army troops swarmed through Afghanistan. And look where we are today!
But I Was Wrong About Donald Trump
Want to know what I was wrong about? Donald Trump. When I heard that the longtime New York City donor to Democrats was running for president in 2016, I scoffed. I didn’t think he was conservative, remembered his longtime pro-choice positions, and considered him a ludicrous primetime huckster. As a native New Yorker and an architecture snob, I resented him for tearing down gorgeous historic buildings and replacing them with flashy modern monstrosities. I used to enjoy the sneers (“short-fingered vulgarian”) aimed at him in Spy Magazine. I once said on the radio, “Nobody who has shaved Vince McMahon’s head on national television is eligible to be president.” So I backed Ted Cruz in the primaries, all the way through the Republican National Convention that year.
It troubled me, of course, that wise and experienced conservative friends of mine were rallying behind Trump, some of them quite early on. The great Phyllis Schlafly, my mentor Faith Whittlesey, the irrepressible Steve Bannon, and then Eric Metaxas — each of them stepped up and said that Trump was, effectively, the “new Pat Buchanan.” As someone who’d backed Buchanan since 1992, devoured his books, admired him deeply, and served as a delegate for him at the 1996 GOP convention, that got my attention.
Pat Buchanan Has Been Right About Everything
When Pat Buchanan himself endorsed Trump and forgave him for helping Ross Perot to smear him in the 2000 race, I really stood up and took notice because Buchanan has me beat on every level: He has been right about every major national issue for the past 30 years. I challenge you to think of one subject on which he flouted the stale, sold-out orthodoxy of the floundering conservative movement where events haven’t proven him not just correct, but prophetic.
I’ll wait. We have all the time in the world.
For context, go watch Buchanan’s 1992 GOP convention speech, which at the time sent all the GOP invertebrates into paroxysms of hysteria. He predicted 2020’s chaos and anarcho-tyranny with all the eerie exactitude of a time traveler come back to warn us.
So it’s with great satisfaction that I watch the first few weeks of Pat Buchanan’s presidential administration. Because that’s what we’re seeing unfold. The Donald Trump of 2017, who thought he could make deals with Democrats, pull strings and grease a few palms, then split the difference to come to a “common sense” compromise is gone. Gone with the wind. You can’t compromise with the Gadarene Swine as they’re charging down into the sea.
Welcome to Trump 2.0
Trump 1.0 was the one that let Mike Pence trick him into firing General Mike Flynn, which unleashed the Deep State to launch its Russia Collusion hoax and start persecuting Trump and his supporters. There was still enough of the old Trump in place by 2020 that he let himself get played by Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx, shutting down the country and signing off on Operation Warp Speed. The old Trump was far too trusting and didn’t use all his power to shut down Democrat efforts to set up election fraud on a national scale.
I think it took witnessing the actual theft of the election, Fox News’s eager complicity with it, and Mike Pence blithely certifying it (having promised not to) for the old Trump to finally start fading. The killing of Ashli Babbitt, the vicious legal persecution of peaceful January 6 defendants while George Floyd rioters and arsonists walked free, the relentless and lawless hunting of patriots like Rudolph Giuliani, Sidney Powell, John Eastman, and hundreds of others … these were throat-stripping red pills that Trump had to choke down, culminating in the FBI ransacking his own wife’s lingerie drawer and assassins taking shots at him while the Secret Service scrambled around like Keystone Kops.
The last 10 days of principled, punitive executive orders that are undoing four years of Democrat madness and gutting the Deep State’s slush funds while rounding up thousands of dangerous foreign invaders from our cities makes matters starkly clear: This isn’t your father’s Donald Trump. It’s your grumpy uncle’s Patrick J. Buchanan, and I’m just glad that Pat is still with us and gets to see it.
Archbishop Vigano Calls on Catholics to Join Trump’s “Counter-Revolution”
Good people around the world are taking heart from Trump’s bold, common-sense actions that defend the Common Good and recommit our country to the Natural Law God wrote on each human heart. Patriots are marching in London’s streets, conservatives are rallying against sharia in Germany, and peace might very well break out in tortured Ukraine. Among the most beaten-down, confused people on Earth are my fellow Catholics, whose pope has been persecuting true believers for the past 10 years — even as he embraces abortionists, platforms population cranks, and cuts secret deals with the Chinese Communist Party.
One of those emboldened by Trump’s embrace of Logos (common sense, reason) is Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano. He is one of the only Catholic bishops to candidly assess and publicly condemn Francis’s tyrannical actions and heretical teachings. Vigano has issued a letter to Americans thanking us for Trump’s courage and offering spiritual uplift. Go read it for yourself, but here’s Catholic children’s advocate Elizabeth Yore talking about Vigano’s statement on War Room:

Trump Cuts Off CIA Slush Fund USAID
You might be hearing in the media that Trump has cut off crucial funds that feed hungry children around the world by pausing all spending by the U.S. Agency for International Development. Don’t let yourself be gaslit. As Elon Musk and his team are exposing, USAID is primarily a political operation, designed to promote leftist goals such as legal abortion, LGBTQ madness, and media censorship around the world. Intelligence veteran Mike Benz points out that USAID functions mostly as an arm of the CIA, helping destabilize governments that our Deep State doesn’t like. And Trump has pushed “pause” on those tens of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars that pay for rainbow flags and sterilization programs in helpless, impoverished countries.
USAID, the foreign aid agency that many see as a front for CIA activities, is being radically dismantled by US President Donald J. Trump and his DOGE led by Elon Musk.
Two top officials were put on leave after trying to keep Musk’s team to access classified information, and soon both the X social media account with 1 million followers and also the website have disappeared….
Musk also shared a post by an X user highlighting that USAID funneled $53 million to the infamous EcoHealth Alliance, that used U.S. taxpayer funds to support ‘gain-of-function’ (weaponization) research on coronaviruses at the Wuhan lab–research that likely led to the creation of COVID-19.
Did you know that USAID, using YOUR tax dollars, funded bioweapon research, including COVID-19, that killed millions of people? https://t.co/YVwyKA7ifs

The stuck pigs are squealing, of course:
Democrats are protesting the pause of USAID funding.
They’re freaking out because their money laundering criminal organization which they benefited from for decades at the expense of American taxpayers has been exposed.

Anti-American Demonstrators Block California Highway

Just, you know, to prove that they deserve American citizenship and welfare benefits.
Does the Governor of New Jersey Deserve to Be Arrested?
New Jersey Democrat Governor Phil Murphy told a public meeting that he is harboring an immigrant whose status is unresolved. Does that mean “illegal”? If so, in harboring a fugitive from justice, he may well be violating numerous federal laws. He seemed to challenge Trump to do something about it: “And good luck to the feds coming in to try to get her,” he said.

Playing chicken with Trump 2.0 is not a good idea, Governor Murphy. Maybe one of those cells freed up by the release of the January 6 protestors has Murphy’s name on it.
The Permanent Government Doesn’t Care What You Voted For
The intrepid James O’Keefe and his media group have gotten another Deep State apparatchik on video tape boasting that he and his colleagues plan to obstruct the will of the American people and their elected representatives. In this case, it’s a Department of Homeland Security official talking tough.
“The truth is, we don’t let them [secretaries] get in our way,” admits Brandon Wright, Platform Services Manager for the Department of Homeland Security (@DHSgov), on hidden camera, to an undercover @OKeefeMedia Journalist. Along The Stream…
Wondering about the future of the Church in America? There are worrying trends, to be sure, according to expert George Barna. Later this morning, Stream contributor Joachim Osther analyzes new data and reflects on what they mean.
Is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. right to worry about the impact of proliferating mandatory vaccines on children’s health and cognitive development? Is he a crank, as the senators from Big Pharma insist? Jules Gomes reports on an important new study that bolsters Kennedy’s skepticism.
John Zmirak is a senior editor at The Stream and author or coauthor of 14 books, including The Politically Incorrect Guide to Immigration and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Catholicism. His newest book is No Second Amendment, No First.
