Dr. Anthony Fauci is testifying before the senate on Tuesday about COVID this and 'rona that. If the past few months are any indication, I'm sure everything will be totes clear at the conclusion and that the experts will put forth a clear path forward (see FAUCI NOW SAYS SECOND COVID WAVE "NOT INEVITABLE." IN APRIL HE SAID IT WAS... and WHO NOW SAYS ASYMPTOMATIC COVID-19 MIGHT NOT SPREAD THE VIRUS AS MUCH AS THEY THOUGHT). Rand Paul had his turn to ask questions, and while there still aren't any answers, this is still fun to watch. Though before you do, here is how the media is spinning what Paul said.

Now here's what the senator actually said.

GRILLING FAUCI: Rand Paul GOES OFF On Shutting Down America To Dr. Fauci

Fatal conceit is the concept that central planning with decision making concentrated in a few hands can never fully grasp the millions of complex individual interactions occurring simultaneously in the marketplace. It is a fatal conceit to believe any one person or small group of people has the knowledge necessary to direct an economy or dictate public health behavior. ...

Ultimately this all comes down to the fatal conceit that central planners have enough knowledge somehow to tell a nation of 330 million people what they can and can't do. ...

Perhaps our experts might think twice before telling the whole world that a COVID vaccine likely won't provide herd immunity. We don't know! Why weigh in with these opinions that we have no knowledge of? These are forecasts that may well be wrong.

Considering that all the other forecasts were wrong, it's not outside of the realm of possibility that these forecasts are as well. That's why its totally reasonable to question things like masks and social distancing when our leaders, the media, and all of the "experts" have done a pretty decent job of abusing the public's trust over the past few months. Like even now, the message is that Andrew Cuomo walks on water while both Florida and Texas are literally the worst. And yet ...

Yet we keep being told to "listen to the experts," with Anthony Fauci anointed by the press as the only one to listen to. They've even turned on Deborah Birx, because she's started questioning things and calling out bad data. It's just data that goes against the narrative we're being told.

A friend tweeted a question recently that has stuck with me: "How long should one person have emergency powers of your life?" If we've learned anything over the past few months, it's that they should never have the emergency powers in the first place.
