President Joe Biden falsely claimed that voting for former President Donald Trump implies support for a national abortion ban.
In contrast, however, Trump believes in states deciding on abortion laws through votes or legislation.
“My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide, must be the law of the land,” Trump said.

“Many states will be different, many will have a different number of weeks, or some will have more conservative than others and that’s what they will be. At the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people. You must follow your heart, or in many cases, your religion or your faith,” he said.
Various Democratic figures, including Hillary Clinton, have predicted a national abortion ban if Trump is reelected.
“A vote for Trump is a vote for a national abortion ban,” Biden wrote.
The Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022 has led to states implementing abortion bans, with some states having near-total restrictions.
Certain states, including Washington, DC, have no current abortion restrictions. Arizona’s Governor repealed a law from 1864 that largely prohibited abortions.
